Dear Gefen Families,
This week in social studies we focused on Martin Luther King. We began with a story and then watched a wonderful video called Our Friend Martin. In this cartoon movie, two boys time travel through MLK's life. It is really a great learning tool. The students wrote about their dreams for the world and then completed some various activities about Martin's life.
Yom Ivrit was a hit! The children had fun as they made name necklaces and key chains. They also learned to say the names of their snacks in Hebrew and they wrote words that began with certain letters within those giant letters (anything that begins with lamed gets written in a giant lamed).
We continue to work on contractions. Please encourage your child to use the flash cards to practice. The most difficult one is "will not" becoming "won't." We also continue to work on our graphing skills. We've looked at line graphs, bar graphs and pictographs. In addition, we practiced our "tallying" skills.
Shabbat Shalom,
Hamorah Caren
